Hook up problems

Hey guys, ive read that i cannot hookup my aldl cable to a LPT port and expect it to work for datalogging.

I have a 25 pin to ALDL connector i use with my J2534 reprogrammer.. does anyone know if ill be able to use this for data logging or if i can convert the connector to be used without the j2534?

Re: Hook up problems

25 pin was the original standard for serial ports. Then, 9 pin, so adapters are out there.
Whether it'll work depends on the polarity of the data signal.
About all of the software out there requires an inverted signal to get anything.

As far as I know, Diacom was the only data logging software that used the LPT port. If you write your own logger then you can use the LPT or serial port. If your ALDL cable has a MAX232 or such in it I wouldn't connect it to the parallel port (LPT).

Re: Hook up problems

That cable is probably just the vehicle-side cable of an AKMCable. You're missing the box that goes in between, converting you back down to DB9 serial. Don't hook that up to anything just yet. Contact Andrew at www.akmcables.com if you don't know what I'm talking about.
