Setting SA ?

6E Tuning for WOT

I see where people are locking their advance a set figure; say 32 degrees all in at 3000.
In the good ole days you set the advance on the dist, and once it was at max that was it.No advance change v load variations. (non vac racing dist )

So to do the same via the SA tables do you set all the cells above your required point to the same # or can you do it by setting Max spark Advance in the constants?
I assume Max spark Advance overides what is in the SA tables?
PE SA set to zero

Re: Setting SA ?

I'm no expert by any means, but yes, I guess you can do it either way. The Max SA however guarantees that other tables and calculations do not lead to more SA than you set there. Some tables add to the Main SA numbers, and some tables are used instead under certain conditions.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Setting SA ?

Thanks for your input.
If it works as you say I can I can keep dropping my max SA across the board until I get rid of the knock , then fine tune it back up in the low load cells.
PITA adjusting each cell
I believe in 6E, the total SA in the cell includes the initial advance .

In my Datamaster logs , I have a SA figure and a SA "computered" figure which appears to be lower by the amount of inital advance I have programmed in.
The "computered" figure then goes lower again when the knock retard comes in.
