EBL-AE and PE

ive got my spark and VE and all the other goodies fiquered out but my PE and AE is really screwed up. the numbers are so far off that im having a heck of a time determining if my problems are initial AE tip in or if its my PE being really too rich (when i take from PE it gets worse and the same for AE). i am having such a hard time fiquering this out-even after obsorbing as much info as i can from this site, im having a hard time determining what my PE and AE should look like. so i was wondering if someone could post a pic of either their PE or their AE-im certain that after i get one of them close my tune will go alot easier.
its a stock 98' 350 vortec stock 98' cam
crusader TBI intake
and EBL ecu
no egr or other smog stuff

it should be a very easy motor to tune but its driving me up the wall

thanks

Re: EBL-AE and PE

Set PE at 90% TPS just for the temp AE tune. that should keep you out of PE.

I like to work lean to rich on AE. anyway worked for me. I would take half of the AE out for TPS AE and same for MAP AE. My tables seem to have twice as much usec in TPS AE vs MAP AE but again that works for me. When you get the audible lean pop then add to each table until pop disappears. In fact if you start with the stock AE values in EBL.bin that would be OK just I would reduce them equally to get lean then come back and enrichen. Much of AE is seat of pants and changing some AE variables and take notes.

What injs and what FP?? What is a crusader intake? Is it a cold intake?

Re: EBL-AE and PE

thanks ronny-

im gonna try your advice to get me closer then i am now but my original problem had to do with me being slightly retarded-lol- i was looking through my AE tables and realized that the last time i inputed my PW numbers that i must have been smoking somethin crazy--a couple of the numbers through out the charts didnt have zero's behind them.
example--what i wanted was 2500 USec at "a certain point" but what i had typed was 25
this is why i had crazy poping in random places at random times-combine that with the fact that my PE was about 1000 USEC too rich and i was chasing my tale. so now that i have officially put myself on the "here's your sign" list-im gonna go see if i can get this thing dialed in the rest of the way.

i cant believe i was chasing that stupid mistake for so long!!!

Re: EBL-AE and PE

Don't beat your self up.

The most difficult part of tuning is:

You know what you are doing is right. You know your right. If I do this this way, It will happen this way,(get rich, lean, better, faster, ect ect ect...).

But everything goes the opposite way. (but I know I'm right!!!!)

Your wrong, dead wrong. The car is telling you "I want what I want, not what you are giving me"

Listen careful to the car. Believe what you see. (not what you think). Turn around and go the other way (if more is worse, try less).

This is the most difficult part of tuning anything. Sometime during tuning up cnc equipment, a 30 year trip, I discovered sometimes I was, my own worst enemy.

The cure is simple, relax, take a break, talk to some one else, sleep on it, go back checking the basics, and recheck the last thing changed.
