I have searched all over and am still not sure what I need.
Can I datalog and view ALDL data in tunerpro rt with an ALDL cable only, or do I need Moates ALDU1 or equivilant? If only the cable is needed, what do I look for and where can I find it?

The ALDU1 is an ALDL only cable, it's entire function to to connect to the ALDL connector and the laptop to datalog/read the datastream.
If you only want to datalog, then you can use practically any ALDL cable out there that will fit your vehicle and laptop and Tuner Pro RT.
You can also use Scanner Pro, but is not exactly for a beginner, especially if a definition for your application has not already been defined.

Ostrich 2.0 is for emulation only, there is no datalogging capabilities with the Ostrich 2.0 on it's own.
I use the Ostrich 2.0 and ALDU1/CABL1 myself
