My Prom is done, I need to locate one ASAP. I'm looking for 89 T/A, 5.0, TPI , Auto, 2.73 gears. The Prom code is 3506APYR. I was told by several dealerships these are discontinued, can someone suggest a place to find one or if I can get one burned or replaced.

Please let me know your suggestions.

Re: Need Prom
For MAF cars, most of the aftermarket Memcals will work. I suggest you go to an Aftermarket Parts store and start there. A Hyperjunk will work. And then you can look at re-progamming it. Just make sure it is NOT a "piggyback".

Without the memcal, there is nothing anyone can do for you as the memcal contains both an eprom and the netres circuitry. A separate eprom will not work for you and most guys don't have a spare memcals.

Alternatively you can try a wrecking yard to find a memcal that is from a "similiar" MAF car. Depending on your area, this may be okay or not.

Thanks Grim, I have to say I'm totally clueless about this and don't know where to start. Are you saying I need to call places to see if they have aftermarket memcals...do you know places that I can call. I have no idea what to ask for, can you help direct me on this...

Re: Need Prom
Yes, that will work. Just be sure to specify that you want a bone-stock calibration of APYR burned into the PROM. No changes to the stock calibration.

Your current MEMCAL will plug into the pins sticking out from the side. This keeps the CALPAKs in place which are required. Note that there are no pins out the side where the EPROM is. This is because the one on the MEMCAL is no longer used. The top side socketed PROM is what gets used.
