newb trying to tune..
ok guys,
believe me, I've searched, read some articles, and I've sat in the car long enough from time to time sniffing the fumes and almost getting sick (even with the garage doors open).
I'll try to keep it short and add details if requested.. so that way I won't bore you guys.
I've just put in a set of FORD 30# injectors, and of course, they're too big for the ECM to manage right off the bat. I know the car runs because I originally tested it with a set of 19# (stock 305) injectors.
Here's the deal.. the car starts and will stay running (really rough and raunchy) only if I feather the throttle. She'll die if I let go. I'm guessing that it's the lack of tuning that kills the car.
I'm running tunerpro RT, and I datalogged a couple of quick sessions. The only thing that I've changed for my BIN is my injector flow rate to 33#. I did some math (after searching) and decided that at 50psi of fuel pressure, I should set my injector flow rate to 33lbs.
That's all I've tried changing, because I don't understand the principles behind changing timing, and such. Yes.. I'm a newb, but I am trying..
So far, the BLMs stay solid at 128, and there are no knock counts.
My setup is:
355 HSR (speed density)
comp cams solid roller 232/232 @ .050"
1.6 RRs
30# injectors
MSD everything
Holley aluminum heads
thanks guys.. sorry if this is vague.. I'm just trying to be short and brief
Oh yes.. I'm also throwing a CODE 41

First thing, what have you done to fix the code 41? Also BLM steady at 128 rarely happens even with a correctly tuned ecm (bin). What is the INT doing? So, is it going to closed loop operation?

rebuild: thanks for replying. I was JUST in the garage, and after reading the documentation on moates.net, and my shop manual, I realized that I had the MEMCAL on BACKWARDS! Anyways.. I flipped it around, and it STARTS, IDLES, and seems quite happy.

Good, things will go much smoother now. Something to watch for, look at the check engine light when you key on power to run position, not start, light should flash once, if it doesn't, problem with the chip and/or programming.

lol.. yeah... I was initially "happy" to get a code, so I would have something to start my troubleshooting on.

Re: newb trying to tune..
May main problem was wrong address in the chip, Finally figured out what I was doing. At first the hand held scanner would not work, that was related to the chip address. It started last night, and sound's real solid. My BLM was something around 135, if I remember. I do not have the Moates data logger yet, so I was using my scanner..
