I know the best way would be to get a setup with dual sensors that average the afr value, but will using one wbo2 sensor suffice for tuning?

If so, where is the best place to place the o2 bung to insert the sensor? On the y pipe where it merges to one pipe? In one of the headers? Next to the stock o2 placement?

Down under the vehicle but pre-cat. Sensor needs to have the tip facing at a downward angle once installed. Can see the mounting instructions for pictures of this.

Well I have eliminated the cat so no worries there. With that said, I am running long tubes into a y-pipe. Would mounting the sensor where it merges into one pipe be too far away to get an accurate reading it it wasn't a heated o2? If it is too far would installing it in only one side of the y-pipe be accurate since it isn't reading from all 8 combustion cycles, instead reading only from the 4?

All WB O2 sensors are heated. Without seeing the exhaust setup I'd say about a foot past the Y would be a good place. Ths may put it in the cat-con well, which would make it easier to install and add some protection.
