New to tuning

hey ive got a 87 iroc 5.7 tpi. was looking into burning my own chips but i dont know exactly what i would need to do it. i dont want to spend a crap load of money, but i know i would need the burn2, the g1 adapter, but what specific chips etc would i need? i have a laptop i could connect to, but what type of wire would be needed? or does this come with the burn2? thank you

Re: New to tuning

I got the autoprom and adapter from moates.net. I also got a few chips, too. I got tunerpro RT from the same place. I am new to tuning also, but this setup has worked pretty good so far. The autoprom, adapter, datalog cable, chips and tunerpro was about $420. I have a dell laptop and everything plugs into the USB.

Re: New to tuning

I was checkin out dynamicefi.com for an EBL for my truck. I didn't see my TPI ECM on the list. I think EBL is for TBI/MPFI ?

Re: New to tuning

For the MAF TPI set ups only need to change a few pins and add a MAP sensor. The original MAF can stay but will no longer be used. The pin changes are just moving a few in the ECM harness connector. And then using the original MAF wires for the MAP sensor.

The EBL ECM should have the optional Port Mod installed.for a TPI set up. This changes the injector firing rate to the proper once per revolution of a MPFI system (which TPI is).
