Tuning $6e for an 85 TPI 305 car
This may sound like a simple question but it's really got me curious. I just finished converting a friends 85 car over to the newer setup running an 89 .bin. The car runs pretty good but it doesn't seem to want to "get on the cam" very quick if that makes any sense. I am not so sure the camshaft in this car is stock but it's not radical by any means. When the car is punched from a stop or a slow roll it just isn't that responsive. I'm working up a new prom for him now that has a more aggressive timing table, bringing in around 30 degrees by 3000 rpm and moving all of the lower tables up 3 or 4 degrees, and the min delta % for AE is lowered to 3 now. I also bumped up the maximum air flow values in the lower ranges. The car has no emissions stuff left, hedman long tubes with an after market 2.5in exhaust, and all the free mods plus a TON of weight reduction done to it. Am I on the right track with these changes? I know the 85 had a pretty decent camshaft in it already but I thought the 89's camshaft would be really close.

You may need to tweak the accel enrich stuff quite a bit to get it happy. Lowering the enable points is a good first start. Mine's at 2% tps & 5 LV8 for my touchey 'lil v6 with more tps filtering. If you're giving it a big enough stab to get it into power enrichment you want to focus on the async tables, they're there to cover the 'gap' between accel enrichment & power enrichment.
