Considering joining the dark side (SD!!!)
It's true. I'm looking at swapping to a '730 w/ S_AUJP_V4 for a base. There's just too much neat stuff out there for this ecm, and not much room to grow with the '165. I got hooked when I checked out the wb control in code $59. And launch mode is just cool, although dissapointing that it doesn't work in S_AUJP_V4 yet (and reverse from the v6 code). It's too bad the ve tables cap out at 4k in the v6 code, otherwise I'd use that for the launch mode. So has any work been done to get launch mode working recently? What do I need to do with S_AUJP_V4 to use a 3 bar map? General tips for a spoiled maf tuner? The number of tables/constants in S_AUJP_V4 is pretty significant and the $88 hack I have isn't commented very well so I'm anticipating alot of tweaking to get this running at the level my maf setup is at. Is there a VEfix program or something like it out there for S_AUJP_V4? Thread Starter

Also, is there a specific reason not to ground the MAP at the block and not the ecm? I'm going to use the egr wires to route the signal and 5 volt refrence since the v6 harness only has 1 wire going to the ecm from the maf plug.

Re: Considering joining the dark side (SD!!!)
good luck.
all i can tell you is a 3 bar map doesnt work with aujp. its an n/a code, 59 is the 3bar code.
there;s a ve tuner for use off the blm's but i never got it to work right really, even thou i had some great help from another member that seemed to understand it well. it just didn't work well for me. left my ve table all spiky and when i smoothed i ended up right back where i was. vephd i belived it was called. a smarter person could prob do some good stuff with it.
with 59 they do have a good working ve turner for that called autotune for download at their site. it works off wideband a/f and i've had very good luck with it.

Re: Considering joining the dark side (SD!!!)
Reading back through old posts someone mentioned the possibility of a short wiring it that way. Didn't sound right so I'm asking here.

Re: Considering joining the dark side (SD!!!)
The launch mode for the V6 Vs S_v4 is different as you mentioned.
Should be called traction launch or something like that (If it worked)
The V6 routine added SA below the converter stall to spool it up quicker and get a harder hit IIRC, I tried a different approach to reduce SA at WOT from stand still and ramp it back in at a variable rate to reduce tire spin on my 700R4 with 3:73's. 1st gear is pretty useless without good tires. Haven't figured out what is wrong with the code yet.
Got a 406 build in its infancy so I will probably need that to work by springtime
No 3 bar, not even 2 is supported at this point.
I did make up a nice spreadsheet based VE correction that uses collected data from a logging program. Could do adjustable % correction with smoothing on the extended and stock tables from the same data but...
had to format the laptop and forgot to get it off first. Took me several weeks of tweaking to get it nice with graphs aand all too.
I'll remake it soon because it is needed for the future and will go nice with the new logging program.
If desired you can still use DM and VEmaster on the stock tables until close, then manually do the extended once you have the stock faily close.

I was looking at the attached .ads and noticed something about estimated ve, is that just what's in the tables or is some calculation going on there?

Re: Considering joining the dark side (SD!!!)
Its the VE value used by the code. Since 6E has this displayed and $8D does not I figured it might be useful to someone. Personally I haven't used it much when reviewing logs.

just a thought i had about the boost thing. i know changing to a 2 or 3 bar would change almost every table in the bin and be a nightmare of code changes. but what about leaving the 1bar and then adding a 3 bar on something like map 2 input that unused, making small boost vrs rpm table and adding it into the fuel cal thats done. so it runs as normal out of boost but once the 2nd map went above say 2.5V or whatever 0psi would be. it started adding fuel at the amount you set. kinda like an electronic fmu but not lol.
just something i thought about the other night, i know its not the right thread for it, but i'm not sure which one would be lol. i'm also sure i'm not the first to think of it, if it was eazy to do.
anyways.
