How does the ECM use the table "Maximum Air Flow VS RPM"

How does the ECM use the table "Maximum Air Flow VS RPM"
As the title asks. And how does that table relate to the various MAF tables. I have an '87 165 ECM using the 6E definition file.

Sooo, what I need to do is to go out and run my scanner and build up a good picture of my airflow VS RPM,,, then modify the "Max Air Flow vs RPM" table to match or be about 5% higher.
I figured that there were two ways the ECM would use this table, 1) as a default table in case the MAF failed, or 2) as a check table. So its #2.

Update: Lesson learned; I thought that I would be clever and get the Max Air Flow values down closer to the actual (thinking that the table could be used as a back-up air flow table if the MAF failed, but thats stupid!). Well, apparently I got it to close and the engine ran sporadically bad. Put the values back to where they were, and the engine runs great!

You probably should not be running stock values in that table. With your mods and increased cubic inches you should bump that table up to be sure you do not end up running on the max values at WOT.

I had bumped them up along time ago. Like I said, this last adjustment was just plain stupid.
