maximum SA in EBL.bin Q

I see my stock EBL bin has max at 41.8 degrees. In ext table it is 36.6. That is an iron head FBody with about 9.0/1 compression running 87 octane fuel.

PE vs Gear is zeroed out cep t zero gear table shows 3.2 deg. I presume that table is only for manual trans. Am I correct that that bin has no additional SA for PE? so max SA in that bin is what is in main table?

My engine has late release(more efficient than early design) Edelbrock aluminum RPM heads at 10.0/1 compression runnin 92 E10 octane with PE A/F at 13.0-12.4. My max SA is 38.0 deg and in tables my max SA is 36.6. My adder for gear varies from 4.2(1st) to 2.5 (4th). So I just changed max SA to 40.8 to match up total.

So it looks like I am 4 deg adv over EBL.bin for PE.

Am I leaving anything on table as far as potentially upping SA a tad?
I guess only way to know is on dyno?

Re: maximum SA in EBL.bin Q

The max SA and max retard values in the calibration are the limits of the distributor. This is to prevent the rotor from arcing to the wrong spark plug. They define the limits of SA that is programmed into the distributor. I advise that they be returned to the default values.

These values only need to be changed when the ignition system is different. Such as going to a DIS set up.

For PE SA, if using an automatic with the TCC option selected, or a stick with the N/V ratio option not selected, gear 0 is used.

If using a stick (TCC option off) and the N/V option set, then all gears + 0 are available for PE SA.

Best way to find the proper WOT SA is on the strip. A dyno is also OK.

I have manual trans. I found TCC option and it was "set". I unchecked that. then I found option for N/V and I set that.

You should also set up the N/V ratios for the transmission.

I believe that was a mistake. I think it disallowed the overdrive on my 4+3 manual. I need to "set" that. Does that interfere with N/V? what does N/V stand for? N/V values are 4 ded for 1st and 2nd and 2 deg for 3rd and 4th.

One of those crazy auto-overdrive stick tranny's. Yes, can use the TCC output to control the engagement of the OD unit. Using the TCC table can control when it engages & dis-engages. Along the lines of the TH400 kick-down control.

N/V is RPM over velocity (vehicle speed). When the TCC option is set the N/V ratio calculation is disabled. It can only be enabled when the TCC option is not set.

Need to use gear zero of the PE vs Gear table for PE SA.
