165 open loop tuning
ok well here goes nothing....
ive searched and searched on here and will probably get made fun of for these questions but thats all right...im tryin to tune my 383 maf car, it has an xe 284 cam with the afr 195's... so far i have disabled closed loop via the temp setting in tunerpro....i can get the car to run and idle very poorly.... i have 30 lb injectors and i first start changing to a smaller size constant..my afr gauge is constantly pegged lean no matter what i change these to??? i can hear the car tone change as i enter a lower constant value but still pegged lean.... i just calibrated the wb02 so that should be fine....anything else i should be toggling to get that afr up at idle...

Re: 165 open loop tuning
Don't most WB controllers peg lean to about 20:1? The engine wouldn't be running at that AFR. How does the engine run once the RPM comes up? Tried driving it yet.
It may be there is an exhaust leak or the WB sensor is gone. Or the cam overlap is dumping a lot of air out the exhaust at low RPMs.

Re: 165 open loop tuning
yeah i have the innovate lc 1 setup with db gauge......20.9 seems to be max .....i didnt hear or feel any leaks in the exhaust.....and the wb is brand new....maybe later today ill see if i can get it out on the road and see how it acts under a light load....do you think the overlap on that cam could be dumping that much air to throw my gauge that far off
i found this odd because when you do the open air calibration, it calibrates to 20.9 as said in the manual.... i dont even think its possible to be idleing at 20 afr

I don't think overlap will dump that much air in the exhaust, and no it won't idle at 20:1. If the car is running and the gauge reads 20:1 then I would suspect your LC1. Throw in a narrow band, it won't tell you much but it will confirm what changing the injector constant does if your LC1 is defective.

Re: 165 open loop tuning
There is something I just thought of. Did you bump the idle speed up in the calibration?
I would try something along the lines of 750 to 800 RPM to start off. With that cam, and only looking at the advertised duration, that should be a decent starting point. Once tuned better can then see if the idle needs to be higher or lower.
