4X Vpw Hardware help

So I have a guy working on some hardware for me.

He has run into an issue activation the 4X Vpw, wondering if any had some knowledge to help out.

Have not been able to make any more progress. If I send a 4X message to read codes there is no response.

Question - is this the normal sequence to initiate 4X mode?

Do you know if the’ Begin High Speed Mode’ has to be sent after the ‘Request High Speed Mode’? I get a positive response to the Request High Speed Mode command but it’s not responding to commands I send at 4X after that.

Is there a way to set the PT in monitor mode and use a Hyperterm type app to monitor data?
I am able to do this with the Elm, but obviously overflows once my Tech2 goings into 4X

I missed this thread earlier...

Is the engine off? Have you requested (and obtained) security access to the PCM? 4x only happens when you have the engine off, are in secure data access mode.

What are you trying to use it for? It can only be used for reflashing or reading the flash chip. Datalogging and other functions are not normally available in 4x mode due to the large number of interrupts generated by the VPW controller.

Obviously the ELM will not work, but what is he using to connect to the PCM? Is the PCM alone on the network (like, on the bench), or is it in the car? IIRC, the 4x sets in as soon as you make a valid request for it. So, if the hardware has trouble in 4x mode, you will not get a reponse saying that your in 4x mode
