My car, 92 camaro 5.0 TBI, 5 speed with a/c and ps. Removed A.I.R system yesterday. Knowing from previous research that I need re-burn the prom to remove the 100mv~ or w/e difference added to the prom to compensate for the AIR system, I decided to get into this programming.

I am trying to get into prom tuning, and I have many years of web design, c#, php etc computer language coding and have been to auto school for about 4 years of my (including high school)...So that should help the learning curve dramatically.
Meanwhile I have been studying this:

I have read this insanely long, but adequately descriptive thread, and I am at a loss. I am familiar with HP Tuners and the other obd2 programs, but obviously this is obd1 as I have a 92 tbi, and this is where it gets fuzzy for me.

First eprom, or eeprom?
Reading the article, I have come to the conclusion that I want to use eeprom's. The reasons are obvious. No UV light or waiting times for erasing.
So I was going to order 2 of these eeprom chips:

but what programmer will work for these? I would prefer something USB because I have a netbook that would support it then.
I was looking at this programmer

And it says 40pin like the majority of programmers, but aren't our proms 28 pin? Also, does anyone know of a programmer software that supports USB?
If this is the case, I was going to order both of these items, and with my laptop and tuning software I should be set, correct?

"If you have a TBI equipped F-Body then you do not need to worry about this because the EPROM plugs directly into the ECM"
Does that mean that I can unplug my factory prom and plug in my eeprom I am ordering after I program it?

Your chip link doesnt work.
I just got all my stuff from moates.net. Just didnt make sense to me so save $50 or so on to buy "Items that might work" and have no support behind them.
