So i removed my ECM from my car and found out that the previous owner replaced the ECM and chip, there is a Hypertech chip installed.

My question is how do i know what the chip was programmed for? I am tryn to fix my vacuum lines, ran into a issue with the EGR not connected, then found I dont have a EGR solenoid or even a plug to plug a egr solenoid into

I was going to get a after market adapter that u plug the factory chip into, the adapter has a chip that u can have set for EGR disabled

So how do i find out what the chip installed is configured for? I really need to get this figured out as my car now has a real rough idle, no power on acceleration

can i pull the chip and flash myself? any and all help is appreciated

 

All the Hypertech chips I have seen have a number on them for idendification.

Have you checked for error codes?

 

my check engine light doesnt turn on, I assume the previous owner removed it

i am going to remove dash tonight and install a bulb, then i will short out computer and read the flashes

to save me some searching, does anyone know off the top of there head what pins to short to get it to flash out the codes?

there are two Hyper chips. One more agressive than the other for timing. the more aggressive one requires a 160 therm. There may also be a change in fueling for WOT in each. Most say it is not worth the investment unless it is under say $50.
