Way to view PE mode? 7730, $8f, tunerpro...

Hey all, new to the site but have been lurking a while.

I have a turbo'd 2.8 running $8f on a 7730. I'm doing datalogging tuning with someone and he want's to know when/if I'm going into PE mode. The problem is, I have no idea how to "see" this in Tunerpro RT or if it's even possible without more than just a moates datalogging cable. Is it?

We're having problems figuring out why my AFR is going lean under boost if I ease into the throttle versus stabbing the throttle, which gets the AFR to correct levels.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

Use the commanded AFR value. If you usually run closed loop it will change from 14.7 (likely setting) to whatever the PE commanded AFR is.

AE in $8f is lame. IIRC, there is no AE versus MAP. It is all based on TPS. As you roll into the throttle the INT is likely skyrocketing. See if when PE is entered on a roll into the throttle if the INT gets locked where it is, or if it gets reset to 128.

$88, which is similar to $8F locks the INT where it is, as long as it is greater then 128, when entering PE mode. Since the BLM is usually being dragged up from the INT being high, the engine can get sloggy rich.

Sounds like a timing issue, did the tuner compare SA between $88 & $8F (DIS)?

I'm not 100% sure what that means, but I forgot to mention that I also converted the car to DIS.

I'll take a look at the commanded AFR and see if I can tell what it's doing.

Thanks!

Spark advance/reference... unburnt fuel does not necessarily read rich.

Any updates, as I'm curious to see how it turned out for you? By the way, my post above was sarcasm in case you didn't realize that, it was my little stab at tuning with narrowbands...

No offense taken ECM is strictly narrowband and he's just relying on my feedback from what I'm seeing on my wideband standalone.

Watching the commanded AFR value did work to monitor PE mode and I got the info to my tuner. I guess $8f is somewhat limiting in what he can adjust regarding PE. He mentioned PE MAP Enable Hysteresis only being able to be lowered so far but that he could also try lowering the minimum MAP power enrich mode tables. This is all greek to me but I trust he'll get it worked out.

correct, no MAP component for AE for either enterance thresholds or for pulsewidth calcs.

there is an option present for INT to be reset when AE is entered, but i forget if it's commonly used in the factory calibrations.

Checked today, INT is definitely getting locked at 128 when I enter PE mode. I guess this is the "norm" though with $8f?

Thanks to this site, I think I also got my stalling/rough idle problem figured out. I have a bored TB and the idle screw had been messed with. Not sure if it was ever right, but I did some searching here and found that I needed to get IAC pos. down to 15-30 and then adjust my TPS accordingly. Seems much better now.

Don’t know about 8F in 7730 with TPro, but with 8D, here’s how you can identify logged data. Just sort the log file on ‘Learn Control’ and then look at ‘Loop Status’:
---------------------------- TPro v5 Log File Column Headings
Data Type-------------------Learn Control------Loop Status
Open Loop-------------------Disabled------------Open
Closed Loop-----------------Enabled-------------Closed
Power Enrich (WOT)------Disabled------------Closed
