Newbie Question

Hey;
I am a newbie, and I am looking for some help with DIY EPROM tuning
I have purchased a 1983 Z28 which has been changed from stock. The rear end in from a 1986 Camaro, the engine is a 350 TPI unit (not offered in 1983)and does not have the 9th fuel injector on board so maybe 1989.
The ECM is a #01227165 with this memcal on board!
I am under the impression (TunerCat folks) that this ECM/Memcal is from a 1986 Camaro, but I don't know for sure, and I don't know how to identify it. THe chevy man can't help. I want to purchase a burner and software to do my own tuning some where down the road. I had purchased a TunerCat package for the 1989 unit but it could not read the chip correctly showing (0) in all tables. and crashing out the program as soon as any click made. The TunerCat people tried there best to get me going, but no luck so far. Any help would be most appreciated!

Re: Newbie Question

the aum is a 86 tpi 305 700r4 gm/acdelco 01228291 is $32 definition 27c128 or maybe a 27c256 with the offset changed. You will not be able to reprogram this unless you have a uv eraser and a williams or intronics burner. you will be better off installing a dip or 27sf512 and starting with a aujm bcc.

Re: Newbie Question

sounds like you are trying to use the $6e definition too look at a $32.
if you have read and saved the 16K file look at it with tunerpro $32

Re: Newbie Question

Thanks for the reply, I have downloaded the TunerPro-5-RT program and looked at the bin using $32 definition and just like the TunerCat guy told me it's all (0) I saved it several times during my attempts to read the EPROM (5 files) all the same (0). I thought the burner2 was defective so I returned the package to them. The bin file they sent along as demo $6E however opened and looked normal (what do I know!! at least it had values in the cells) I will find and purchase a new burner kit and try again. I can't think of another approach. Data logging-maybe.
Thanks for your post!
