?'s about proms

So i have little to no knowledge about anything really with car computers all i know is pretty much how to change it but when i got my car it was a auto then i did the t5 swap blew up 3 of them then did the t56 swap and i still have the same auto computer as it came from the factory and ive done an ac delete smog delete have headers 3 inch exhaust ect. and i was wondering what all i would need to do (more or less have someone do) to get it all tuned right and what not. But basicly i just want to get my shift light to work (because i can) but if im going to get a prom just for that i might as well do the whole 9 yards.

I'm not 100% sure I understand what was written, but if I am reading this correctly, you had an auto that you converted to stick and left the PROM the same. You will have a lot of problems, especially since you have modified a lot of other things on the car as well. Read the PROM tuning guide book (sticky at the top) and it will give you an idea what you have to get into to burn your own chips. It typically requires a reasonable investment in hardware and a huge investment of time learning. You'll want to start with a manual transmission PROM and go from there. The "Come in for a free tune" thread by BMMonteSS walks someone through learning to tune for a manual. Probably a good place to start.

You're welcome! Also, found the thread:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tbi/...free-tune.html

It's a fairly long read, but I got a lot out of it myself the first time around. if you're unfamiliar with the terms, it's probably best to start with the stickies thread and start at the beginning for the PROM Tuning Guide Book. It's a large learning curve, but I found that it was worth it in the end to be able to tune my own car the way I wanted, rather than paying people to retune it all the time when I swapped out parts. Reading here when you have questions is a great way to go. I search and usually find that I'm not the first person to have asked. lol
