EPROMS

Been a while since I posted on the site. I was looking into programming my own prom for my car. Its actually a 83 Z28 which I put in a 87 IROC-Z 305 TPI in to, which I converted to the 90-92 Speed Density system.

I have been reading that the chip type is a 27C256, but that chip has been discontinued and is hard to find. I have also read that the market is being flooded with cheap versions of the chip that is not erasable. Some low grade import chips from what the article have said.

doing some research, I found several references to a newer version of the prom 29F256. Does anyone know how this prom compares to the 27C256 prom? Can it be used for what I want?

thanks in advance!

Re: EPROMS

Go to moates.net and order some of the 27SF512's. They're electronically erasable (don't need the old fashioned UV erasers.
