tuning for high load
tuning for high load
Would this be a good idea?To tune the main spark table @ high LV8 just set the tps pe inrichment table to 90%.That way you can later lower tps enable pe and add a little bit of timing @wot. That way easer to tuneyour main spark and pe mode will not get in the way.

That is the method I used to develop my "fuel tables (and to a lesser extent my spark tables). I set my "%TPS to enable PE" to a very high value (like 90%) at all RPM levels . I then took my car to a LONG HILL where I could push down fairly hard on the throttle without engaging PE so I could determine the changes to my Fuel Tables to get 128/128 perfect along with ensuring I was not having knock retard occuring in my spark tables.
Once I was happy with all my fuel and spark tables, I then set my "%TPS to enaable PE vs RPM" back to settings I liked (around 50%). That setting is a matter of personal preference though there are limits. I found having my PE engage a bit sooner gave my car a feeling equivalent to having the secondaries on a carb opening up. So having it occur sooner than the stock settings do help with "heavy part throttle" performance. However, much like the secondaries opening too soon, engaing PE to occur too soon can result in overly rich running and less performance. On my car, settings for lower RPM levels with a %TPS value < 45 tended to be too soon. It may be higher or lower on your car...that is why I consider it a "personal preference".
I have found engaging PE too soon can result in less fuel economy if you live in an area like I do where it is extremely mountainous with many hills.

I was having a problem nailing down the fuel tables until I raised the % tps to 95%. Looking back it seems that I was tipping into PE mode with the normal %tps settings and skewing the readings.
When working with the spark tables I also set the a spark retard to zero so the retard wouldn't kick in and skew the knock counts.
