165 simple questions

Hi, I'm a longtime member. I learned so much in this board and I think I shared my knowledge too in the past. But All I was able to speak about was 8D 727 for my 90 vette.

Now I'm helping a friend with a 88 Vette Auto.

1) I downloaded the stock bin from his car. I want to see it in Tuner pro.
Which is the correct XDF ? 32B or 6E?
2) My friend has a new 400ci TPI engine. I was planning to change injectors parameter and unit displacement (cubic centimeters) parameter, just to start it.

I can't find any "cylinder volume" like i can see in a 8D.

Using the SAME downloaded supposed stock bin that I found in the ecm:
-If i see the injectors parameter in 6E I see:
single fire FI size@40psig = 0.21 -lbs/h double fire FI size@40psig = 0.70 -lbs/h
This means 21? it's divided by ten? (so I'll have to modify to 0.42 for a 42 lbs/h injectors?) and why the double is .70?

-If I see "Injectors flow rate " in 32D i see:
inj flow rate single fire = 23.04 #/Hr and inj flow rate double fire = 23.04 #/Hr
They are the same but different if seen with 6E or 32B.
Thanks

Re: 165 simple questions

An '88 will be $32B, only the '89 MY used $6E.

There is no displacement parameter as it isn't required. The MAF directly reports the airflow, no need to calculate it.

The S/F and D/F flow rates are the same to the outside world. But internally the S/F rate uses an injector flow parameter that is half the D/F parameter. As long as the XDF conversion equations are correct the same flow rate is entered for both.

Re: 165 simple questions

Thank you RBob.
Is there a parameter of CHECKsum on the 32b? and/or a "Disable CheckSum" parameter?

I use tunerpro to modify/copy bins. BUT saving a modified bin I do not see if the checksum is automatically updated.

And i can't see if the saved bins has the checksum Updated.
Thanks

Re: 165 simple questions

TunerPro updates the checksum when the BIN is saved. Unless using an Ostrich or such I wouldn't disable the checksum check of the PROM.

Re: 165 simple questions

Thanks for checksum clarification.
What I don't understand is IF I have to change both injectors flow rate (S/F and D/F)
It's a 88 Vette with a Miniram Without the 9th Injector.
With 36 lbs new injectors, I Have to change Both flow rates (S/F and D/F) in tha bin? (from 23.04 to around 39)
Thanks

Re: 165 simple questions

Yes, need to properly set both the S/F and D/F flow rates. This is the way the $32B & $6E firmware is written. Note that the $8D code only has a single injector flow rate.

When going S/F it just doubles the injector PW. While the earlier MAF code switches the flow rate parameter.

Re: 165 simple questions

I have not understand.
The original injectors are 21 lb h

with 32B im using:
the original bin says: SF inj flow rate: 23.04 DF Injectors flow rate : 23.04

both are the same: ( 23.04 )

Assuming I'm using a set of injectors of 36 lbs h ,

I have to put 39.00 on both? (more or less depending of fuel pressure around 40psi)
Thanks

Re: 165 simple questions

Yes, set both flow rates to 39 #/hr...
