730 Computer took a dump!!

I was getting ready to leave work tonight, got into my car, started it up and the check engine light was on solid. I also noticed it was idleling kind of funky. Reached over and tried to scan the computer with my Xray, "Vehicle not responding"! OK!! Pulled the computer, pulled the chip, replaced chip and tried to scan it again. Still not responding. I checked all the ecm fuses and were good. I then swapped in a spare chip that I carry with me and tried it. Nothing, still not responding. I was pretty ticked at this point. I called up a buddy with a 90 Iroc to see if I could borrow his computer. He came over, I put my chip in his computer, plugged it in and boom, it scanned perfectly. Cranked the engine and it ran great. I then plugged my computer back in and tried it once more. It actually worked a few seconds, then the SES light came back on and it started to run bad again. Sooooo....I guess my damn computer is fried! Just out of the blue! I've heard the updated 730 computer is better as far as internals....is this true?

Just go to a wrecking yard and tell them you need the ECM out of an early 90s (90-92) 3.1 V6 Cavalier. Double check the sticker to make sure it's a 1227730 and your set. Heck of a lot cheaper than a new ECM.
