85 TPI ecm and scanner

Ive searched and found nothing on this, sooooo .does any one know what changes when this pig slow ecm is hooked up to a scanner and data list is selected.IAC goes to 1000 rpm, aparenly timing is also set at a fixed rate and knock sensor disables due to detenation.Anybody know what else changes???? I'm just staring messing with my own PROMs and just wonder how screwed my scanner readings are due to these things going into "limp"mode?

It is going into ALDL mode. If your scanner has the option, try 'diagnostic' mode instead. I believe it chooses the mode based on the resistance between pins A and B of the ALDL connector.
