gauge pannel swap
gauge pannel swap
I have an 83 camaro 2.8l.
I took out the pannel that was in the car the one with the three lights in the center. I put in a used one with the gauges. Now the tac seems to work but when you turn the car off the needle jumps up. The temp. gauge does not seem to move and the oil presure gauge jumps all the way to the top. The check engine light will not go out when the car is running but it worked fine before. I am not sure if there is something that i did wrong or if there is something else that has to be changed to make them work.
If anyone has any ideas the help would be much appreciated.

Never had any of the other problems but when my car was a 2.8 the needle on the tac jumped to about 1500 every time the car got turned off but it never got any more serious, looks like chevy never took time to fixed this prob cause mine is an 89.

My tach does the same thing.
Does your oil pressure ever drop, or does it stay pegged. Mine kinda twtches real fast, not really smooth.
The actual temp gauge could be bad. It should peg out everytime you start the car. That is GM's gauge test. If it does not, that is probably the case (gauge is bad).
Do you get any codes, maybe there is a reason the Check Engine light is on.
Hope that helps some, let us know.
