My 1989 IROC has a sensor with two wires on the top of the charcoal cannister. These two wires have been cut and I would like to know what these monitor.

Does anyone know what this sensor is for?

Thanks!

It monitors nothing. It's a solenoid to open the EVAP to the intake. The ECM will never miss it.

Deadbird,

Thanks for the info. Any idea why someone would disable EVAP?

Thanks,
Ernie

Well, if one were to leave all hoses intact and just cut the wires.. it's 100% pointless to do unless you feel it's somehow a source of a vacuum leak or something. Even if the solenoid is bad (stuck open), cutting the wires would still yeild you no gain in fixing it.

I cut mine to just remove the wiring crap that was in the way on my camaro (it's a beater anyhow) but, I also removed all the hoses as well.
