Coil Help

I know i have a external mounted coil in my 1987 with 2 plug in wires going to it...How many volts does that put out..i want to upgrade to an msd or accell...i think those are aroudn 45,000.. What improvement shall i see. i just want to do a tune up...what is my stock and what are new ones. and which model do i want

You probably will not notice any difference. I my opinion so called hotter coils, fancy wires etc are a total waste of your hard earned bucks. The stock electronic ignition will provide more than enough spark potential. In the old days of points and condensors a better coil helped a little but modern cars have plenty of punch in the ignition department. Once combustion occurs more spark really does nothing other than MAYBE keep the plugs a little cleaner. Trust me on this one, there are better ways to spend your money.
