Oil pressure gage
Guys, my oil pressure gage stays pegged with the ignition on. Replaced sending unit, but no help. Am I looking for an open or a ground?

Pretty sure I got the right one. They had two different ones for gages, a 60 and an 80 psi. Mine is the 60.

If your gauge is pegged, reading maximum pressure, then there is an open circuit, somewhere. If the gauge does not peg to maximum psi with the ign on & the engine not running, then you have the low pressure light type sending unit installed. Try shorting the tan wire that plugs into the sender to ground, with the ign on. The gauge should read 0 psi, if the wire is connected all the way back to the gauge.

My 88GTA used to do the same thing and I couldn't find the problem. I took it to the dealer and all they did was run a wire from the sending unit and spliced it right into the wiring harness on the firewall! I was not happy, it looked bad! I tried tracing the harness out but couldn't figure out where the wire was going !

Well guys, it was a crack in the laminate circuit board on the back of the instrument cluster. What a pain, at least now it's done.
Thanks for the help.
