whats that comp. good for?

I'm making a wiring harness for my 86 trans am. Its going to be for a non computer, non emisions controled engine. Do i need the computer for anything else, like lighting or something, or can i get rid of it, and all the wiring for it? thanks

I believe the computer controls a number of things, the major items are, carb, distributor, tranny lockup. I think that on some cars it has something to do with the speedo, there may be a few other things that I don't remember but I am sure the other guys will chime in. don't take my word as gospel, I am only going by memory.

Thats what i figured. I'm going to be using a non computer controlled carb, probly a speed demon, and a vacum advance distributer, so those aren't going to be a problem. From what i've read in other posts, the electronic speedo is controled by its own yellow box computer thing right? Anyone else know anything.

if you have an automatic, it controls the TCC lockup. If you remove the comp, you will need a lockup kit.
