Power Door Lock Problems
My door locks on my 89 Firebird keep locking even when they're already locked when the engine is on or off. The unlock/lock switch only works some of the time. But regardless, the locking mechanism keeps sounding (about every 30 seconds). I'm not very familiar with how they work. Do I have to worry about my battery being used up or is it a minor enough feature that I won't need to. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks.

I pulled out the fuse that controls the door locks (and rear window defogger). So I don't have to worry about the battery. But ho about the overall problem? Thanks.

If the lock / unlock push button switches in the door are exposed to water, their contacts may get coroded & a conduction path forms due to the voltage potential across the switch contacts. Remove the switches (they are plug in), one at a time & see if that fixes the problem. If so, replace the switch(s), or pull them apart & clean them with switch contact cleaner. The two lock relays are under the kick panel, on the driver's side.
