Hello my brother has a 85 Z28 and he just took all of the computer stuff off of the car. It has a 305 with a carb. The problem is that everything seems to work until the he turns the lights on and then it seems to drain all the power from his insterment panel and the only light that is on is the right turn signal light. Please help he asked if anybody might of had this problem also and how do you fix it or does he need a new aftermarket wiring harness? Thank you

 

Put the computer stuff back in the car. By the way, you got like no replies because your topic title was lame, try something like "My car dies when i turn on the lights"

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it "illegal" in every state to disable or remove the ecm on any street driven vehicle? I would love to stick a holley 600 on top of my performer/w/egr, and replace the distributor w/non comp. but am soundly under the impression this is a no go w/the feds. Are you guys sticking the computer goodies back on when it comes time for inspection/emissions testing? Cheers.
