Code 54 Fuel Pump not priming

Hi All,
I am having an intermiting problem with my fuel pump not priming before starting. When this problem occurs the car is difficult to start and stores a code 54. I can still hear the relay clicking after a few seconds as if it were still attempting to activate the fuel pump, however no fuel pump activity. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

Regards,
WIlliam

said that should solve the problem. Is your car very slow to start until the oil presure reaches 5psi? If you have any questions email me Alberocks@home.com and Ill send you the whole explantion or just tell me if it works...

If the FP relay is energizing & the fuel pump is not running, until the oil pressure switch activates the FP, then it's probably the FP relay, itself. Remove the connector from the FP relay & try shorting the orange wire to the tan / white wire. The FP should run. If it does not, there is another problem (FP, or harness). The 20 ampere in line ECM fuse feeds the FP relay contact & the ECM powers the coil.

Thanks Tim,

I was able to resolve the problem last weekend. Believe it or not the problem was in the fuel pump relay.

Although the relay was actuating, it was not conducting enough amperage to power the fuel pump or any loaded circuit. A test light will did reveal this problem. When I used a test light it lit up every time. I knew the ECM was not defective because it was actuating the relay with good amperage. When I jumped the relay the fuel pump worked. Replaced the relay problem resolved.
