Usually the carbon vapor canister connects to the fuel tank vapor line, and the purge solenoid allows vapors stored in the canister to be routed to the carb through a purge solenoid, so they may be burned in combustion. The EGR system consists of the EGR solenoid and the EGR valve (and in some cases an EGR valve temperature monitor). The EGR valve is mounted on the intake manifold & allows exhaust gasses to reenter the intake tract and combine with the air fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. The EGR valve is controled through vacuum by the EGR solenoid.
