What the heck........
What the heck........
Ok I got a good one for you guys. My interior fan speed switch doesn't work because of a shoddy a/c delete. No big deal, I hooked up a relay to the blower motor, battery, a switch under the dash, and fuse panel. It works perfectly except when the car is running and I want the heat on, my belt starts squealing and my volts gauge goes from almost 18 to 13. This happens every time I turn the fan on. It doesn't matter if my cd player or window defogger is on or not the belt squeals anyway. What did I do that would make the alternator harder to turn? I'm positive my water pump isn't at fault. Could my belt be loose or maybe my alternator bearings need to be replaced? Are you mystified too?

Perhaps some shoddy wiring is putting a load so great on the alternator that the belt starts to slip?

I used 12 gauge wire for everything except a fused wire about 6 inches long to connect the relay straight to the battery which I could only find 10 gauge. I happens totally independantly of any other loads(wipers, cd player, window defogger, headlights). I am going to check the tension on my belt next. (even though I probably should have done that first)
