Center Console Lid Removal for Wiring
Center Console Lid Removal for Wiring
Is it as easy as it looks ? Looks like 3 screws to take out, then pop off the lid ? I don't want to hose up the wiring somehow. I need to get to the cig lighter wiring to disconnect it. It is shorting out, I think.
It's an 88 GTA.
Thanks,
John

Yep, that's it.. there's friction fittings to the left & right of the power window buttons, and one under the direct center of the ashtray.
3 screws? I only remember two on mine, that are seen when you lift up the console lid. Where's the third?

Hi Tom,
The third screw is under the removable ashtray in the front of the console lid.
Are these 'friction fittings' the kind that pop out with a little force, and pop back in with some force too ??

Frank,
The console lid came off easily once I pulled out the "lip" that encloses the radio. The lip will prevent you from getting the front part of the console out. The lip just pops off with very little force if you pry it gently from the bottom.
Yes, this would be the way to expose the power mirror switches, too.
