Oil temp gauge...electrical or mechanical?

I am getting an air fuel ratio gague that splices into the oxygen sensor but I am not sure what oil temp gauge to get. Do I get an electrical one or a mechanical one. How do these install? Are they pretty easy or is their a lot involved. If they are too involved I will get another gague that is easy to hook/wire up.
