testing fuel pump?
testing fuel pump?
how do i check to see if the fuel pump works? i have a 91z28 tpi and i have no terminal G in my ALDL test port. my car was in a flood and the pump will not turn on.my oil pressure gauge doesnt work either. is the oil pressure switch connected to the fuel pump relay
Yes your oil pressure and fuel pump are connected by the oil pressure/fuel pump cutoff switch. It is usually threded into the
block above your oil filter. It's a safety feature,If you loose oil pressure it cuts power to your fuel pump.

The oil pressure sender and the fuel pump switch are housed in the same package, however, the presure switch does not disable the fuel pump when pressure is low, it enables it above 5 psig. The pressure switch parallels the relay contacts and powers the fuel pump as a backup for the relay. There is a fuel pump test connector on the passenger side, near the timing set connector. The fuel pump may be powered directly from the + side of the battery through the test connector.

i am only getting 6 volts to the fuel pump. i tapped into the purple wire going back there from inside the car. the car was in flood and i need to figure out why the fuel pump isnt turning on. i already changed the relay, and oil pressure switch. i checked all fuses in fuse block and the fuse right near the battery on the inner fender well. what do i check for now.

Measure the voltage at the relay contact - the wire that goes to the fuel pump. If there is 12 volts there, when the relay is energized, and only 6 volts at the fuel pump, then the problem is in the connection between the relay and the fuel pump - probably in the connection at the bulkhead connector on the fire wall.
