Monster Tach install
Monster Tach install
I have an auto meter phantom 5" tach/shift lite that I have left over from my LS1 camaro. I would like to install it in my '82 T/A. Anybody know how to do this? If so can I get a step by step?

well there should be four wires
black=good engine ground...since a bad ground will throw off tach
red=power with a 4 amp in-line fuse
white=lights...i used a grey wire by the center console that got power form dash lights
green=disconnect the small white wire on the distributer(there is a red and white wire under the dust cap on the driver's side) and connect the green wire to that connector.
AND your done.

the tach needs to be in 8 cylinder mode. Also as to which wire to tap into, i would use the one that says "tach" on the dustcap. My coil is mounted inside the distributor so it may not be the same as the external coil. Hope this helps
