VSS in Manual vs. Auto
Is the VSS for a manual tranny a different size than the one for an auto. My T5 has a hole about an inch across (Just a guess, I'm not near the car right now) while the VSS in the auto is about 2 inches across.
To put it another way, can I make a VSS work in a 1984 T5 tranny?
I currently have somthing rigged up to make the speedo work but it is only accurate to about 50mph.
Thanks

I don't know if an auto VSS is the same size as a T5 VSS, but a VSS for an '84 T5 is available from GM. The '84 - '86 Berlinettas with digital dash had the T5 option, with a V6, which came with an electronic VSS, mounted in the transmission.

An auto VSS is definitely different than a T5 VSS.

Thanks for all the help guys!!
I have one more question though.
Does anyone know what the RPO code for that speed sensor was? According to wrenchhead.com it could be D9A, D9B or D9E.
I don't think it would be D9B because that is what my RPO sheet said for my auto.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Dale
