Electric Hatch Problem-Duffster can you Help?

91GTA- hatch motor worked fine, ..Now will not close, no motor action for the Final pull down. Pulled the cover, wires look good and all fuses Ok. Read the posts here about a "lever switch" near the motor?? Duffster, read your description, can not find the lever switch?, can you send a picture??, car runs great, need help with this latch. All help appreciated. Thanks. Bulldog.

I was just into mine last night putting a new gear nut in. If you haven't experienced it already, the gear nut is made of plastic and will strip with age. If you ever need it, it's available at the dealer for about $3. Back to your question. When you have the interior body panel off and are looking down at the pull down assembly (upside down), there should be 2 wire harnesses. One on the left and one on the right. The one on the left goes to the switch. The lever sticks out about 1/4" towards the back of the car and there are 2 metal tabs (one above the lever switch and one below) sticking out towards the switch. These metal tabs are actually bent out from the mounting plate and they are what flips the lever up and down. The lever switch is in line between the 2 tabs. I hope this helps, though I know a picture (which I don't have) is worth a thousand words.

alright...the 1st switch is in the little valley at the top where the latch does it's latching...
the 2nd switch is that off angled little black box behind the up/down rod in the center.
the switch should be up when the hatch is up.
this is the switch that stops the upmotion and the down motion when the hatch assmebly reaches it's desired point.
Hope this is the thousand words you're looking for

Duffster, Thank you for the info, was there supposed to be a picture?, if so, it did not open on my machine. Still trying to locate "switch #2?. Thanks again for your help.
