Mechanical to Elec. Speedo

I have recently purchased a T56 to go into my 88 IROC. I know some of the '87 to '89 Firebirds had the elctronic speedo as did everything after '89. Were those gauge clusters in the Firebirds with the elec. speedo the same as the IROC clusters? If so what kind of 'birds did they come out of? A friend of mine had a '88 GTA and it was still cable driven. I'd like to find a elec. speedo cluster in the same style as my IROC and not have to go to the 90-92 Camaro gauge cluster. Any info would help alot. thanks

Ryan

You will have to get an aftermarket speedo from Autometer or such, or get the tail housing adapter from Jags That Run that will let you use a T56 with a cable speedo. There is another option too that is a box that takes the electronic signal from the T56 and converts it to a motor that spins the cable attached to the speedo, but I cant find their info.

Third option.

Get a dash from a 90-92 and install. Use the Dakota Digital box to convert signal.

Be happy you no longer have to deal with cable driven speedos.
