NO gauge lights!! I think theres a short somewhere...
i plugged my cigarette lighter back in a couple of months ago, and it started blowing fuses for the gauge lights. Well finally i got sick of it and i disconnected the lighter completely. I replaced the fuse again for the guages and the lights still dont work. Do i have a short? If so, any ideas as to where i might start looking for it? In know this is gonna be a PITA to find....

I've got a 87 Trans Am and I'm having the same problem. The fuse is good, I've checked the bulbs, and even traced wires. If I find anything to help, I'll get back to you. I have asked readers for information also.

Hey guys. I had a problem awhile back with my dash lights going out, and the fuse blowing all the time. Turned out that a wire on the back of my stereo was hitting metal...it was a wire associated with the illumination. I have an aftermarket stereo, so if you guys do too, then check and cover all your wires real good. if its the stock stereo, ide still give a look see behind there just to make sure everything is ok. Good luck...electrical gremlins are a pain in the butt...

wow talk about bringing a post back from the dead...
I did eventually find the problem, an orange wire going to my light switch was shorted out.

the "remote dimmer" may have failed. look here for more details:
