I have a 88 bird 2.8 mfpi I've been workin on and its just about got the better of me. I mash the gas pedal and it takes about 30 seconds to get to 60mph no power. Idle is fairly decent. When Im under the hood and blip the throttle it'll bog a bit.
Replaced wires, cap, rotor, iac, O2, boneyard maf. fuel filter,
set tps to .54. The plugs look fine. When I replaced the filter i ran the pump into a coffee can and right amount of gas appears to be fine. I diag'd originally a 34 maf. no errors now. The guy before me put in a camaro ecm which ran fine.Oh, catalytic converter removed for sometime now.
I did notice when setting the timing, I unplugged the wire for advance and also did A-B on the adl. however, at idle it is at 10@ but when i put the rpms to about 1500 the time shows around 6@ then when more gas around 3k the timing jumps past 18@ marker. sometimes the rpm doesnt' matter when it jumps.
Could it be the ignition module or ecm??
