electric fan modifications?

electric fan modifications?
Hey guys-
I copied the diagram off of the post about wiring a fan thru new relays. My question is this;
I have a 160 thermostat in my 87 Formula & the thermostat in the fans is still 195. Can I wire the fans into a toggle switch so I can use them as needed. My car has almost 200k miles on it & I want to wire the fans up direct to a toggle switch. If/can I cut the wires that go into the wiring harnesses without screwing up the computer or anything? I was going to take the big wires (10 gauge?) & cut them & route to a direct setup, but not sure if it will mess up the computer settings & make the car not run right. Any experience/replies would be very helpful & appreciated. Thanks!
