85 Mph to 140 speedo

how hard would it be to change the 85Mph speedo in my 86 firebird to the 140 Mph speedo found on the turbo firebirds
It is not cable driven

change the face, regear the the drive inside the transmission and install a custom prom or buy one from gm as the ecm reads the vehicle speed sensor and controls everything based on that

I'm sorry 4speed but you are not correct. The speedo swap is a direct plug and play for an 86 to 89 speedo, as both are electronically controlled. The circuitry is contained in the speedo and will read correctly with no other changes.

I have a 120 mph speedo in my 88 firebird right now.

i might buy the 140 mph speedo cluster.

is this a direct bolt in?

I just happen to have a 140-mph speedo cluster out of a 1986 T/A. The speedo is electronic. If anyone is interested, I'll sell it cheap. E-mail me.
