A few weeks ago I replaced my starter with one of those pep-boys rebuilt ones and it worked great. Then last week my alternator (been dying for months) finally went. I replaced the alternator and then when I went to reconnect the - battery cable my starter just came on and started cranking my engine. Right as I went to unplug the battery the starter stopped and started working perfectly normal. Now today (a week after the new alternator) I was driving about 25mph down the road when the starter turned on. I pulled over and turned the car off and the starter stopped after like 20 seconds.

Whats going on here? Is it my starter thats just bad or could it be something else?

 

Check your wire connection at the starter to see if their touching other terminals on the starter. There should be one big one and two smaller ones. Make sure the connections are only touching the one their supposed to be. That may cause it.
