need help installing Jacob's Pro street on TA w/ external coil

I am trying to understand the installation directions for installing my Jacob's computer and coil.

I have a 1991 TA with external coil.

The instructions say that the black and white wires from the computer box go to the new coil. OK

But the green and red are shown with and plugging into some quick connectors that I don't have.

I was given a wire harness with a green and red wire. This has a quick connect that plugs to the stock coil harness. Do the green and red wires from the comp. box splice into the same colored ones on the new wire harness?

Also, the instructions show a ground wire on the coil between the + and - post terminals. My coil has only the + and - terminals. Was the extra ground wire eliminated in the newest coil???

Thanks.

I have the Pro Street with external ultra-coil installed on my 85 Camaro. My car didn't have the external coil to begin with. The computer on my car came with a wiring harness already attached to it. There were 2 connecters on the end, one had red and black wires, the other white and green (if I remember it right). The Pro Street kit also came with another separate harness that plugged into the computer's connectors and then the distributor. This other harness also had the black and white terminals for the external coil. As for the ground on the coil, mine had a wire I had to ground. If yours doesn't, just make sure the housing is grounded. You may not have gotten the right harness for your car. It should simply plug in, with no splicing. Try calling Jacobs, I've always had good help from them.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reply.

Things have changed for the grounding and color scheme, but they have not updated there instructions!?!

I got it straight with them though.

If anyone reads this, it is best to contact Jacobs or CBS Performance for the latest information.
