Wipers
Wipers
I have just replaced my multi-function lever (Wipers/Turn signal/Cruise)
When I turned the ignition on the wipers came on Hi Speed.
How do I turn them off!! The new lever dosen't seem to twist all the way around to Off/Lo/Hi etc; it seems to be out of sync.
The wipers were working okay before I pulled the old lever (Which was broken at the tang end)
What controls the wipers? Is it the tangs at the end of the plastic lever or is it the metal shaft that runs thru the plastic lever into the column switch?
Have I damaged something when I pulled the old lever?
Any help/advice gratefully received!

I might be wrong about this (I've yet to have to screw with mine thankfully) but, I believe the switch for the wipers is right there with the stalk. (just a guess mind you)
You might want to take the stalk back off & (if the wipers are still on high) replace the stalk with it turned on in the same position.

Thanks for the reply Deadbird.
With help via various e-mails from Okfoz (Thanks John) I managed to sort the problem out.
When I pulled out the old lever I didn't know what position the wiper switch had been left in because I had the battery disconnected. So when I started to install the new lever (and I didn't want to damage it by twisting and turning it too much)the wipers came on Hi when I re-connected and turned the ignition on.
After a lot of twisting & turning using the metal shaft from the old damaged lever I managed to switch the wipers off and re-insert the lever. Everthing is okay now and the pulse wipe even works!!
The metal shaft that runs thru the lever operates the wipers and the plastic tabs/tangs on the end of the plastic part of the lever control the washers. :-)
