Hot Spark Plug Wire

I'M HAVING A PROBLEM NOBODY SEEMS TO HAVE AN IDEA OF THE CAUSE. MY 305 CARB -86 CAMARO (IT IS EXPERIENCING CARB BACKFIRE) HAS HEADERS WITH THE NUMBER 4 WIRE FISHED THROUGH IT. THIS WIRE AFTER A FEW MINUTES GETS SO HOT YOU CAN'T GRAB IT. ALL OTHERS ARE MILDLY WARM BUT FINE.ANY IDEAS -I'LL TRY THANKS JOE

I had the same problem. I ended up having my headers ceramic coated/ran a custom length wire set from the distributor->around the back end of the head and under the headers/used Taylors boot protectors on the boots as well. When I wrote to Super Chevy they said ACCEL sells a steel braided/shieided wire set that would also correct this problem.
