I have a four wire coil and I am not sure how to hook it up right. Does anybody have this done and have pics?? I have the normal cap and rotor. I don't want to fry anything. I am tring to get rid of a knock problem and a better spark with what else I have should help out alot. But like I said I want to do it right and I don't uderstand the directions enough to feel safe.

 

If you run a MSD box with your blasrer 2, use the dual connector coil harness from MSD and your coil will convert automatically to a two wire setup. Cut the wires, put on ring connectors, and install to blaster coil, this setup works great. However you will have to buy the MSD box and harness. There are probably other ways to do it, but this is the only one I know of.

 

Can I buy just the harness? I don't have the box and don't think I will be getting one. I was just wondering if anybody has hooked up the wire without the box and if they have pics.

 

The harness works specifically with the MSD box. I am not sure how to hook it up without it but probably can be done. The dual connector coil has four wires going to it from 2 harnesses, I know on of those harnesses comes from the distributor and controls tach output the other comes from the regular wire harness. The MSD harness when used with the box hooks into those two harnesses and then has 2 wires that go to the box and one harness with two wires which goes to one side of the coil. If you use a blaster coil other than a GM dual connector blaster, then you have to cut the wires then hook then to the coil.

My advice: If you do not want to spend the money on the box, sell your blaster 2 and buy the MSD blaster dual connector coil, they cost about $45.00.

 

I just got off the phone with summit and they sell another coil that is a direct replacement for the factory coil. It even puts out more volts than the blaster 2!! It is part number MSD-8226. I am going to call them back in the am and talk about a swap for the coils. It is now 0341, I work the night shift.
